I just bought my laptop a week ago (brnad new HP), and I’m disappointed with the battery life. I can *maybe* get 90-100 minutes out of it before it craps out. I’m not doing anything heavy duty with it. What can I do to extend the active time, and are there more efficient, longer-lasting batteries available for purchase?

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 and need to replace my three year old battery. Batteries are much cheaper on eBay and I don’t know if there is something wrong with them.

I accidentally used an AC adapter with inverted polarity (+ on the external of the jack) to power an Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO M6450G. There was some smoke near to the power button.
The problem is that the laptop is working fine with the AC adapter plugged-on, but it is not charging anymore the laptop’s batteries. It seems like charging, but they are always on 0% remaining.

My DELL laptop is relatively new, maybe 4 years old. I don’t think there is a virus or spyware on it, because I already did checks multipe times, and each time, the laptop comes out clean. However, each day the batteries decrease by 1%. Like the 1st day, the batteries would be 95%, and the next day it would be 94% and so on. I’m not unplugging the laptop, so I don’t know what’s going on. Can someone please help me? Thanks!

There are so many vendors and so many batteries I have no idea what to buy. It’s for a Dell, but I would expect a manufacturer to be consistent across brands.

Some people tell me to remove the batteries & use them when needed only , others tell me just to plug the power on while batteries are charging & that it won’t be harmful .
So , please tell me what is the ideal way to manage my laptop & keep batteries in good form for longest time possible .

I am planning to fly with my laptop in the near future. I have heard that airport security can be hard on batteries. If the laptop is a carry-on item is this an issue?
