What is a good laptop to buy for a 12 year old that knows computers?

I have been around computers and laptops all my life, and I know what computers need and how to handle them. So what kind of laptop would be good for me?

They have special "kid proof" laptops that are spill resistant, small and inexpensive. One is called "One Laptop Per Child" and it is selling for around $290 here:

I personaly like apple and mac but they are pricy, a good non expensiver brand is HP.
